Vauxhall Corsa D 1.3 ECU Repair Service Water Damage – PLUG N PLAY – CDTI Z13DTJ Z13DTH

These ECU’s are very common to fail due to water ingress due to their position just under the windscreen, over time the drains get back and caused water to accumulate around the ECU, and in due time the seals holding the ECU casing starts failing.

Due to the nature of the water damage there are many faults that can occur  but the most common symptoms are

  • Misfire on one or many cylinder
  • Will not rev past 1500 rpm
  • Non start intermittently
  • Complete non start or No Crank
  • No communication via diagnostic.
  • F displayed on the instrument cluster

These are the list of common fault codes, but usually a failed ECU will cause various fault codes to be stored.

Common fault codes we have experienced with these water damaged units.

  • P0201 – injector 1 voltage low
  • P0202 – injector 2 voltage low
  • P0203 – injector 3 voltage low
  • P0204 – injector 4 voltage low
  • P2146 – Capacitor Voltage 1 Low Voltage
  • P1600 – replace ECU
  • P1625 – main relay
  • P060B – Replace ECU
  • P0608 internal control module defective
  • P1120 – pedal position sensors circuit 1
  • P1122 – Pedal position sensor circuit 2
  • P0683 – Glow plug circuit low voltage

These are the common part number affected.

MotorTronics Vauxhall Corsa D 1.3 CDTI ECU Repair Process

  1. The ECU gets delivered to us premises
  2. Package is categorised as Vauxhall Corsa ECU and itemised for inspection.
  3. Due to many ongoing repairs, the ECU would be awaiting inspection.
  4. ECU is Inspected and outer ECU casing is separated from the circuit board.
  5. Due to the water corrosion on circuit board, the circuit board is thoroughly cleaned
  6. Once the circuit board board has been cleaned a inspection card is assigned to the ECU circuit board with all crucial customer information.
  7. The circuit board is then inspected under a microscope to determine the areas which has been damaged due to water ingress.
  8. Repairs are conducted to all damaged circuit traces and electronic components replaced which have failed.
  9. After Repair the ECU is then ready for Testing where its powered up on our specific Bench Test Ring testing all communication signals and voltage signals are present.
  10. If all signals and voltages are correct the ECU then gets passed on to our Programming Platform where all customers Vehicle data form the ECU is extracted and saved.
  11. Once the Original Customers data is Saved our Test vehicle’s data is then Programmed on the ECU, Ready for Engine Start Test.
  12. The Engine start Condition Test as scary as it sounds this is where the ECU is tested under engine run conditions, this test evaluates;
    1. The engine is able to start.
    2. Its able to run with all correct signals.
    3. No fault are present while the engine is running.
  13. If the engine is running correctly the ECU then gets a road tested to approximately 2 miles to ensure the ECU is able to handle load conditions of the drivetrain.
  14. If all is successful and the ECU has passed all Test its then considered Successfully Repaired
  15. To ensure future longevity of our Repairs the circuit board around our repairs are coated with conformal coating to protect our repairs
  16. The ECU is now programmed back with the Original Customer Vehicle data what we saved earlier.
  17. After successful Programming the ECU is tested again for communication and verified that the data is correct for the customer vehicle.
  18. The Outer Cases of the ECU is then Prepared, removing all existing failed sealant and area cleaned for New Sealant.
  19. The casing is then sealed with industrial polyurethane and not cheap silicon
  20. The ECU is again tested after sealing for its final test for communication test via Diagnostics to ensure the ECU is communicating correctly with the Vehicle modules.
  21. Order is Complete and is ready for shipping back to the Customer.
  22. Only after these tests and conditions the ECU passes,
  23. This is our promise that your ECU should run as it left the factory.

Since the ECU’s are fully Re-Manufactured with all ECU’s going through various; Testing, Repairs and Vehicle Road Tests, This Repair Service takes Minimum 28 working days and during busy periods these repair times could easily exceed 48 working days.

Please do not purchase this Repair Service if you are in any rush. this is a very time consuming repair especially when we have other ongoing repairs.
